Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, one of the nation’s premier healthcare institutions, is conducting a national search for a Chair, Department of Anesthesiology. The Department has grown significantly in clinical and academic scope, playing a key role in Cedars-Sinai’s rise to the top tier of health systems nationwide. Today, more than 140 anesthesiologists, organized in a mature private practice group, care for Cedars-Sinai Medical Center patients, and the department’s innovative residency and fellowship programs, with over 70 physician-in-training, are highly competitive and widely sought. Our anesthesiologists have a long history of leadership and engagement with hospital service committees and interdepartmental quality initiatives. As a result, the department has been crucial to the development of virtually every new clinical program at Cedars-Sinai. This is an exceptional opportunity for an academic leader to lead Anesthesiology and collaborate with other Department Chairs as our clinical and research programs continue to expand. The Chair will be a member of Cedars-Sinai executive management group and provide system-wide leadership.
Our Anesthesiologists provide the full continuum of anesthesia care in both the surgical and obstetrical environments, including General Anesthesia, Regional Anesthesia, Cardiac Anesthesia, Pediatric Anesthesia, Liver-Transplantation Anesthesia, OB Anesthesia, and Pain Management.
The candidate we are seeking will have an accomplished academic career in Anesthesiology, senior leadership experience in a busy academic medical center and exceptional clinical and research achievement with a strong track record of publication and understanding of extramural funding. Experience managing growth, health outcomes initiatives and innovative enhancement of residency training programs will be highly desirable. Demonstrated experience as a collaborative academic leader able to work well with internal and external colleagues such as faculty, private attendings and affiliates of Cedars-Sinai to integrate into a cohesive, productive team model is vital.
Essential qualifications include:
An MD or MD/PhD is required. Candidates must have or be eligible for California State medical licensure and be Board Certified in Anesthesiology.
The Chair is expected to qualify for a senior academic appointment in the Cedars-Sinai professorial series.
