Denver Health Medical Center is recruiting for a Director of Anesthesia. The Director of Anesthesia provides direct clinical, educational, and operational oversight of the anesthesia service and the Perioperative Service. Responsible for hiring and mentoring all faculty who staff these areas, and for quality and operational metrics of the department. Plays a key role in the education of residents and students who rotate in anesthesia . Serves on the Denver Health Directors of Service committee. Will be appointed to the University of Colorado School of Medicine faculty in the Department of Anesthesia at appropriate academic rank (Associate Professor/Professor), and has traditionally been appointed as a Vice Chairman in the Department of Anesthesia at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.The candidate must have documented experience in a public hospital / teaching hospital environment; share the mission of Denver Health; and demonstrate the vision needed to lead the service. The candidate should have leadership experience with documented ability to recruit and retain providers; mentor junior faculty in scholarly / academic activity; and be able to provide leadership at the institutional level for anesthesia. The candidate must have excellent clinical skills and provide clinical leadership to the department. The candidate must have a strong teaching record with experience in residency and medical student education. The candidate must be eligible for appointment at the associate professor / professor level at the School of Medicine. The candidate should have sufficient experience to be able to mentor junior faculty in scholarly activity and promotion with experience in either clinical research or meaningful quality improvement/process improvement work.About Denver Health:Denver Health is a nationally recognized safety net health care system with a 525 bed hospital, a level 1 trauma center, a pediatric trauma center, a busy OR service that does over 11,000 cases a year, a separate maternal/child health wing where obstetrical cases are done, an outpatient surgical center, 8 federally qualified health centers, 16 school based health centers, and the city public health department.
