Division Chief Cardiovascular and Surgical Subspecialty Critical Care and Medical Director of CVICUCome and lead our CVICU critical care team providing tertiary care to critically ill patients with cardiovascular disease. All cardiothoracic, cardiology, and vascular surgery patients are cared for in an interprofessional care model in a state-of-the-art 26-bed ICU, including patients with ischemic heart disease (PCI & CABG), valvular disease (surgical and endovascular), adult congenital heart disease (non-surgical and surgical), advanced heart failure, mechanical circulatory support, aortic disease, and PVD surgery. We further admit most of our subspecialty surgical critical care patients to this ICU. This creates a practice environment with an excellent mix of surgical and non-surgical ICU patients. We are looking for a division chief who has demonstrated leadership skills in complex care models, focusing on a patient-centric, interprofessional approach. A track record of successful scholarship and mentorship is desired. The applicant should be at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. The completion of a residency in Anesthesiology and Fellowship training in Critical Care are required. The Division Chief and Medical Director is responsible for daily operation, staffing, quality, and safety. Our OHSU leadership team consists of a dyad at the unit and cluster level of a physician lead and an RN leadership partner. The CVICU faculty consists of 12 physicians from Anesthesiology, Pulmonary Critical Care, and Cardiology, and 14 advanced practice providers. Our CVICU is a gold Beacon Award recipient. OHSU is a 550-bed Magnet hospital with level-1 trauma designation and the only academic hospital in Oregon.The Division Chief and Medical Director oversees all operational aspects of the CVICU in collaboration with our CVICU RN manager. Position Conditions/Qualifications:Certification in ICU is required, but no special training or certification with cardiac anesthesia or echo required. (Echo expertise is desirable/preferred)Doctorate in medicine, philosophy or basic sciences (M.D., Ph.D., DMV, etc) & postdoctoral training;Demonstrated competence in research, teaching, patient care or administration or combinations of these activities;A potential for academic accomplishment; Board certification or eligibility for specialty board certification, where appropriate.
