The Department of Anesthesia and Pain Medicine at Akron Children’s Hospital, Akron, Ohio, has an outstanding opportunity for a Department Chairperson. The Chair will work collaboratively with Administration, clinical staff and the elected Medical Staff and Leadership team to achieve the enterprise’s strategic vision, objectives and operating goals. The ideal candidate will have outstanding leadership and management capabilities with excellent clinical expertise and experience. A demonstrated track record of results and fostering an environment of diversity and inclusion within a team of faculty, staff and students is a key requirement. The incumbent will be board certified in Pediatric Anesthesia, and will acquire an active medical license in the state of Ohio. The physician leader will pursue academic appointment at the rank of Associate or full Professor at Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED).
The successful candidate will lead a well-established team of 13 Pediatric Anesthesiologists and 23 CRNA’s to provide anesthesia and pain management services to thousands of young patients each year, as well as managing a system-wide sedation program. Akron Children’s Hospital’s surgical volume for 2016 was nearly 17,000 cases for all Pediatric Specialties, including, but not limited to, a Level I Burn Center, Neonatal Intensive Care, a Level II Trauma Center, Acute Pain and Cardiac service.
