The Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is actively seeking candidates for a Division Chief of Pediatric Anesthesiology who will be an Associate or Full Professor position in the tenure track.
MUSC is investing approximately $500 million in the building of the new freestanding Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital (completion date October 2019) and an off-site 100,000 square feet pediatric ambulatory surgical and medical office buildings (completion date January 2019). The Division Chief should have significant academic leadership skills in order to assist in the programmatic development of these new state of the art facilities. Moreover, this individual will lead a division of 14 pediatric and pediatric cardiothoracic anesthesiologists with the need for additional recruitment prior to opening the new facilities. The ideal candidate should be an accomplished and academically productive pediatric clinician with demonstrated ability in the development of junior faculty. Additional responsibilities include continued development of existing educational, research, quality improvement and clinical programs as well as representation of the Department and Division at institutional meetings.
